How Can I access Services?

Everyone Home DC supports the holistic needs of individuals and families at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness in Washington, DC. Housing is our starting point. Seeing people thrive is our finish line. 

Are you an individual in need of general services?

If you are an individual experiencing homelessness, meaning you do not have minor children in your care, you may visit Everyone Home DC’s day hospitality center, Shirley’s Place to access services. Shirley’s Place is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and provides access to showers, laundry, restrooms, mail service, phones, computers, lunch, and social service referrals. You do not need an appointment or a referral to visit Shirley’s Place, appointments are required for laundry. Learn more about Shirley’s Place.

Do you have children under the age of 18 and in need of support?

Every family, with children under the age of 18, at risk of, or experiencing homelessness in the District of Columbia should visit the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center, the central intake for DC’s coordinated homelessness assistance system for families with children, before receiving housing and social services. This is the only place for families in DC facing housing instability to obtain a shelter referral.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM and Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

In accordance with the District of Columbia’s Winter Plan, when the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center is closed, families in need of shelter should call the DC Shelter Hotline, 202-399-7093.

Note: Access to Everyone Home DC’s family programs can only come through referrals from Virginia Williams Family Resource Center. We are unable to accept walk-in appointments for our family programs at this time. Families are welcome at Everyone Home DC Shirley’s Place, which is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and provides access to showers, laundry, restrooms, mail service, phones, computers, lunch, and social service referrals. You do not need an appointment or a referral to visit Shirley’s Place, appointments are required for laundry.

Are you in need of a meal?

Visit the Capitol Hill United Methodist Church, 421 Seward Square SE, weekdays between 7:30 am – 9:00 am for a breakfast. Everyone Home DC’s outreach staff is on site on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
